- Odd. When Richard Pryor's obituary first appeared on the BBC news site yesterday, it mentioned "$40 million (£23 million, 34 million euros)". Today the euros have gone.
Anyway... *wanders off to watch Brewster's Millions, Superman III and See No Evil, Hear No Evil again several times in homage*

Greeting NM. This is somewhat O/T, but its timely. Re this breaking news of the fuel explosion in Hemel Hempstead... the BBC have just carried an eye-witness report from a survivor, who says he was the only person in the depot when it went up. He also claims it was a miracle he survived.
His name? Raheel Ashraf. Am I being racist and horrible in feeling a tiny bit uncomfortable on reading that name? Probably. And I apologise profusely to Mr Ashraf for that. But no doubt someone at MI6 has noted it, too...
Sean.
Yes Sean, yes you are being racist. Sadly, however, it's also probably a fairly natural reaction these days.
Dear Agony Monkey
In a similar vein, am I being unfair when I note that the first person in the lengthy queue of cars lined up outside the Hemel Petrol 'n' Pie Station was a Mr Sid Bonkers from Esher?
When questioned Mr Bonkers pointed out that petrol was a scarce resource and following the explosion it was unlikely that petrol would ever be seen again in the UK, until Monday morning.
Is it also correct that this explosion almost certainly means that global warming is coming to get us, and only the mass and immediate planting of 15 monkey puzzle trees per person in the UK can possibly save us?
Yours etc

Yeah, NM, you're probably right. However, to continue in my role as Grassy Knoll, conspiracy theorist, I note that the explosion happened on 11/12.
We've already had 11/3, and 11/9. They only need 11/6 to complete the set.
End of broadcast from Planet Looney-Tune.
Sean.

hold on there.... it's "natural"?? common, perhaps but i'd hate to think that racism has become "natural"...
