- From my news catch-up reading, nice to see that some things never change - Central Asia is still riddled with corruption and politically-motivated murder while facing economic crises - all of which are still being denied by these various near-psychotic dictatorial governments in the face of overwhelming evidence.
Meanwhile my new favourite country is going from strength to strength. Hurrah!

Lol. I've been following Japan's economic progress for a while now, and tried to re-model its economy for my uni dissertation about 5 years ago. By then it was a decade into its worst recession since the second world war. It still hasn't been able to fully pull itself out of the doldrums, which is quite annoying. But yeah there are some positive signs :)
Jeez, Sunny you get around :)
Anywhay just wanted to say like the blog, your're definitley a 'progressive' lefty
I take it progressive lefty is a compliment? Heh - it's always amusing to find out how political opinions are perceived (cf. Harry's Place, in my view one of the most barkingly authoritarian and largely right-wing blogs going, still decribing themselves as being on "the left").
As for Japan, wandering around Tokyo there were significantly fewer signs of economic troubles than I was expecting - when I was over there briefly last year there were considerably more homeless people knocking around. This time I saw hardly any - certainly fewer than you get in London (or Vancouver, for that matter). Although quite how anyone makes any money out there when everything's so cheap and the tax is so low is beyond me...
