- BBC News: Met chief to face Menezes probe:
" The Independent Police Complaints Commission probe will be led by senior investigator Mike Grant, and be separate from the IPCC's existing investigation into the circumstances of the shooting."Of course, they won't need to do much investigating, because they already know that it was a direct order from Sir Ian Blair that prevented the IPCC going into Stockwell station, in direct contravention of the law... Looks almost as if, much as we saw recently with Blunkett getting booted out nearly a year after Private Eye had already pointed out he was in breach of ministerial guidelines, Sir Ian has also now outlived his usefulness to the government.
Good.
(Oh, and ta to Chris for the heads up - I'm ill at the moment, hence little blogging action from me today...)

I'm not convinced that the investigation will look into that order. I suspect the terms will be set so that they only investigate the "false public statements following the shooting". Blair can probably fend that off, most of the false statements came from anonymous police sources, and then other Blair can say "there's been an investigation and Sir Ian has been fully exonerated..." The old tricks are always the best.
Maybe I'm getting overly cynical. I certainly hope you're right and I'm not.
Extra Ordinary. De M is savagely murdered, Blair and others told bare faced lies. Blair attempted to delay enquiry and actually refused access to IPCC staff - during which time the CCTV pics mysteriously vapourised.
Now he is being investigated .... No Doubt B & Q are delivery a substantial quantity of whitewash to IPCC HQ as we speak.
What is interesting - (according to BB4 PM News at 17.20 this has resulted from the compaints of the de Menezes family.
Presumably then members of the public can make a complaint re the letter to Gieve at the Home Office - incidentally the same Home Office chappy who was so helpful in the matters of Mrs Quinn and her Filipino help person, and whose wife is in someway a legal helpmate to our ex ex Minister Blunkett.
Are you still ill? If so, hope that you feel better soon
