- No idea how long European Tribune has been going but I only came across it today and it looks to be not only worth a look but already quite popular. Probably because it was apparently set up by a bunch of Yanks who are interested in European politics. It seems to be a Daily Kos style set-up, though whether it's a Kossack spin-off like New European Times (which has apparently been rebranded, so I should probably update the blogroll) I have no idea.
From there I've also come across a (rather excessively sparse) European blogosphere wiki with almost no familiar names and a bunch of people I've never heard of, plus Germany-based Sign and Sight - which I think I saw a while back but failed to link. It has an interesting article on The Franco-German relationship which looks well worth a look when I have more time.

One of the reasons it looks so sparse is because the "european blogosphere" was only fairly recently publicised. Loic was working on it with a small cadre of people to use it for a conference in Denmark on Monday, and then it spiralled into a bigger project, so he threw it open and pimped it a bit.
What's very interesting (and obviously french) is that there are an estimated 3 million bloggers in france, and estimated 900,000 in the UK. This is taken at proof positive that France has a much more active and involved political culture than Britain.
However, look a little deeper and you'll see that 2.2 million of those french blogs are the awful awful skyblogs, and 3 million minus 2.2 million equals...well, whaddaya know, less than 900,000! Is this proof positive that Britain has a more involved culture of pontification? Where does the wiki say that? Hmm??
These skyblogs are just so utterly phatic and pathetic and juvenile. Like this radio station threw open people's SMS transactions. Petite anglaise has a very amusing look at them here
EuroTrib opened on Monday. Actually, it was started by European kossacks and some yanks, rather than yanks.
It's focusing on European and energy issues.
