More election aftermath
Europhobia thoroughly liveblogged the election results 10pm to 8am - it was weird...
- Michael Howard's resigned - I think too early. Should have left it six months to see the lay of the land and give the newly re-elected Malcolm Rifkind time to raise his (largely untainted) profile. Could split the party again like this.
- Lib Dems up to 62. The nation of Cornwall is entirely Lib Dem. But can they consolidate their gains?
- David Trimble is out. Northern Ireland continues to count. Slugger O'Toole keeps tabs on the situation. Looks like the Ulster Unionists are screwed.
- Blair spouts nonsense, looks like he's going to be a lame duck. Prime Minister Brown within two years, depending on external events, I reckon (and hope).

I must admit, despite the fact I am a Marxist, I like Howard more than Blair. Politics aside (and with politics, who can even tell the difference), i like his deameanor, his seeming straight talk. I dunno something about him appeals to me. I was really impressed by his victory speech in Shepway&Hythe.
Blair's "listened and learned" (any relation to Brown's acceptance speech, in which he said he would listen and learn?)... and what he's learned is that we want him to (a) do all the PFI-type crap he was talking about at the start of the campaign (b) crack down on thugs hooligans gipsies tramps thieves ect ect and (c) d* s*mth*ng *b*t *mm*gr*t*n. In other words, he's working on the basis that there's been a swing to the Right. He really doesn't have a reverse gear, does he?
Thing is, I'm not afraid of him any more.
Evidence of vote rigging?
