A note on the blogroll, if anyone cares
Loosely inspired by DoctorVee, I've had a bit of a re-organisation of the links to the left hand side, and added some new ones. I think of my blogroll as bookmarks as much as anything, as I blog from several different computers - they are there to help me find things quickly as much as to point out decent sites to people who have the misfortune of stumbling upon my own.
I will be adding more links over the next few weeks, and then some may disappear as I decide whether or not they are places I am likely to want to visit regularly. This isn't necessarily a judgement on their quality, it's just I've seen way too many blogs with nonsensical lists of sites which go on for ever and lose all meaning, and mine is already beginning to get out of control. Regular pruning is necessary. If you want a vast list, go here.
Again, if you feel I am missing any good links, let me know. I'm still hunting around, and have frequently forgotten to take note of some good sites I've found. At the moment, all those listed have got something interesting to contribute - I disagree with many, but interest and provocation value is the order of the day. If sites stop provoking any kind of reaction, they'll go simply to save space. It's not meant as an insult.
Oh, and I've also added "non-partisan" into the strapline of this blog, because I am. It sometimes seems this needs to be made clear, as various fellow bloggers have confused me for being a supporter of pretty much every party going over the last few months. I support none - just policies and (occasionally) individual candidates.
Absolutely no one cares at all about this post, do they?

I just finished pruning my own blogroll, so I can certainly sympathize. I also try to steer clear of infinitely long, nonsensical lists or, worse, lists full of sites that are either dead or updated once every three months. (Only to apologize for not posting lately.)
The trouble is, the number of blogs I'm including on there will probably expand even further - I'm planning on putting on a few more every week for the next couple of months, and then getting rid of those I don't use.
Actually, yours is on the list to be included fairly soon - getting different persepctives from around Europe is vital, especially if they're in English... I also really need decent English language blogs from Germany, France, Italy and Poland at the moment, but haven't had much joy so far.
I've noticed your blog a couple of times now, being a believer in the concept (if not always the practise) of the EU. Then again, I am a believer in the concept of 'liberal' politics, but not always in the people who profess to practise said (e.g. Blair).
May I not-so-humbly suggest you have a look at my blog Newshog? I am a Scot living in the US, and I am trying to post links to and talk about the news items or opinions that I feel don't get quite enough attention, put a new light on some current event, or have a transatlantic flavour. I admire your blog and would appreciate your comments.
Regards, Cernig
Looks like good stuff - I like your newsbriefs - a bit like Perfect's sidebar, but with a longer summary.
I'm hoping to add a few links this afternoon if I get a minute. Only thing is what to file you under...
Also: I've found that bloglines does a nice job of keeping things in order. (I'm also at different computers sometimes...) It's pretty great for keeping track. Mine's a bit chaotic at the moment, but this one looks pretty solid, for example:

The great part is that everything is on one page, and that you immediately see if someone has posted something new or not. I can recommend it.
As with most things with this blogging business, I would if I could. The bloglines things looks complicated, but I might have a look into it.
I have no idea how to get that trackback thing working - either to get my comments up on someone else's blog when I link to it or vice versa. If anyone can enlighten me it'd be appreciated.
howdy,
It's your blogroll and you can do what you like, but if you are to have one link about the Balkans, you might want to consider soemthing other than Balkan Analysis, which is rather partisan. It is pro-Milosevic and anti-Bosnian and believes that Macedonia and Kosova are hotbeds of Al-Qaeda terrorism, which is a bit loopy.
You might try http://www.tol.cz or other sites, including one we run www.bosnia.org.uk.
Sorry, took a while, but the links have been added.
I'm hoping to get a good balance of opinions through the blogroll - too many I've seen only link to people they agree with - hardly conducive to informed debate (or, indeed, debate of any kind). Certain blogs still haven't listed this site in their "Euroblog" sections - apparently simply because they disagree with me, as I like to think it's made a decent contribution over the few months I've been doing it properly. I don't want anyone to be able to accuse me of similar link policy bias.
More suggestions always welcome - there are plenty of blogs I've read a couple of times and meant to link to, but have forgotten, so pointers would be good.
